Ruff immediately and lead a small heart. I hope to lose 1 and 2; my real concern is losing trump control, but this line makes it look like I'm planning to ruff two hearts in dummy or score a cross-ruff. Of course, if they do win and return a diamond, I ruff that then play cross-ruff lines (crossing in ).

Edit: I've just dashed this post off at the end of a long day in the office so it might be little more sane than North's bidding, but from what I can see N got lucky. Let's hope I did too.

I start similarly but I have no intention of losing 2 heart tricks.

You need to search for a favorable layout

I play East for 5332 distribution with 3 clubs and the trump ace and either three hearts with at most one honor or Hx in hearts.

Ruff, play low heart

If East goes in and continues diamonds, cash 3 clubs ending in dummy and finesse in hearts.

Next play a low heart.

If East ruffs low, over-ruff and play a trump. What can West do? Probably win the diamond return, cash your last trump and the ace of hearts.

If East discards, ruff low, ruff a diamond and feed West another hearts to make the trump king en passant.

I see no way how opponents can stop me from winning at least 3 clubs, at least one heart and either 6 trumps or 5 trumps and another heart.

If West wins and continues diamonds, I play similarly, only that I will try to drop the heart honor from East by playing the A on the second round.

I'm worried too about losing trump control with the -taps .

Maybe I can use the -suit as a diversion ( similar to CamHenry ) but lead a to the Q for the 10 up ....for a finesse .

East wins and maybe leads A and another ( thinking to kill a -ruff ).

Win K and lead 9 covering w/J -- hoping it wins because of split honors.

Next Q :

.... if were 3-3, then you can afford to lose another if they don't split 3-3 . You still have a trump to win the tap and your hand is good.

.... if 4-2 , then you need the 3-3 split [ EDIT or West with H x ] .

EDIT: Rainer's opp -holding also in play here if West is H x , then you can still win against 4-2 -split.
