If we are showing controls, why skip 3?

Agree with 3. I have a 5 loser hand, so I want to make a slam try. Opposite as little as Kxxx xxxx Kx Axx slam is cold, so why not look for it? It costs nothing to make a couple of cue bids.

3D ... cheapest Ctrl .

Since 3C! is "upper Bergen", new suit bids are Ctrl-showing.. not a game-try .

Hopefully, partner can Ctrl-cue 4C next . If instead he cues 3H, you have the Serious-3NT available to give him a chance to cue 4C .

EDIT: ooops, when you said "non-serious available" , did you mean non-serious 3NT or non-serious cue ?

I would like a gadget to inquire about shortness. A diamond s/v would be really nice for starters. The subnuts of AK and short diamonds makes slam playable.

Another idea is 4. If partner has 10 working points outside of hearts, were in the zone but the problem is still diamonds. Can you blame partner for getting excited with AK + A but xxx of diamonds?

So I will start with 3 diamonds. If partner ever cues hearts I'm insta-signing off. If partner rejects my game try, either he doesn't have fitting diamond cards or shortness, although its unclear to me 3 actually shows diamonds.

Over 4 I'll try 4. If pard can't take over from there I'm done.

Given normal methods I would just sign off. Maybe I'm chicken but trying for slam could easily get us too high (like if partner cuebids clubs and we find out too late that he has a stiff). Even AK and A is not always enough, and that's a super-max. If partner has that, I could hardly blame him for driving to slam.

This one is very easy for me. I'd just bid 4. It is MP.

I can construct hands where slam is awful even if pd bids all the things you want to hear.

And there is such an important thing in MP called "overtricks" and the less roadmap you give them before you sign off in 4 the more overtricks you make in the long run, if pd does not bid the things you want to hear.

If it turns out to be a cold slam, i know i will not be alone. If it is making slam but not cold, good luck with the guessing.

If we are stopping in game, i am always ahead of road mappers.

Indeed Phil, if 3D does not show diamonds (and in the question it is specifically listed that 3D is a cue, not natural) then partner has no reason to sign off with 3 small diamonds. With these agreements I don't foresee anybody stopping opposite AKxx xxx xxx Axx, but bidding slam opposite AKxx xxxx xx Axx.

Given the agreements I think that just signing off in 4S might be best. With a serious partner I would suggest changing to a system where we can bid a side-suit naturally.
