duplcat
playing in a tournament with a robot I cuebid 5 clubs after a series of bids. I checked what my bid would mean, and it said 4 spades, 6+ hearts and 3 diamonds (my exact hand). Imagine my surprise when the robot passed knowing I was bidding a void! I have had other adventures and they usually involve minor suits, either agreed upon minor suit fits, or myself looking for the better minor. The robots seem to feel J1098 is not support for a minor and will instead repeat their 5 card major headed by the Q.Bidding a major following an agreed upon minor suit fit (as in searching for possible 3NT game) has often involved the robot believing I have an even longer major and the bids go 1D,3D,3H,4H,5D,5H,6D,6H with minimal success. Hope something can be done. I know a lot has been done with artificial "intelligence" but I would like to see the robots have a system of artificial"shame" installed. When they realize they've left partner in truly bad contracts they could apologize, return the entry fee, and report themselves to BBO authorities. :)
barmar
I checked the hand, and the explanation included "strong rebiddable C", and said nothing about it being a cue bid. Yes, I'm aware that this explanation implies that you had 19 cards. P.S. I moved this thread from Suggestions for the Software to GIB Robot Discussion. Please use this forum to report issues with robot bidding.
