Zelandakh
Nostradamus has nothing to do with it. The prophecy was first published by Arnold Wion, who in turn attirbuted the prophecy to Saint Malachy. A typical translation of the prophecy for Francis would be:"Peter the Roman, who will pasture his sheep in many tribulations, and when these things are finished, the city of seven hills [i.e. Rome] will be destroyed, and the dreadful judge will judge his people. The End." Note that not everyone who believes the prophecy believes that "Peter the Roman" comes directly after "Glory of the olive" (Benedict XVI). Gerben42
Nostradamus was really the best clairvoyant person ever. Making vague predictions that can be interpreted at will after one's death is a really, really smart move, since people can't come to demand their money back :)
