There is a reason why folks hate opening 2 with a two suited hand pattern.

(And Diamond two suiters more than most)

 

I concur with treating this like a balanced hand.

Move the five of Hearts to clubs and you wouldn't think twice...

You have to decide how to treat this hand after the expected 2 response to 2 before you choose to open the hand 2.

 

If you are not comfortable with the 2NT rebid, then perhaps you should open the hand 1.

 

If you are not comfortable with that either, then after opening 2 and getting a 2 response, your next choice is one of these:

 

(1) rebid 3 hoping that partner will bid a major; or

(2) rebid 2 on AKxx (assuming that 2 is not Kokish).

 

If you have Mike's tool available, then you can describe 9 of the cards in your hand and the strength of your hand with perfect accuracy by bidding 3. Whether you will get to the right contract from the right side after bidding 3 is an entirely different issue.
