wyman
2N for me, with the understanding that it can obviously go horribly wrong. I just think it's our best chance to bid a game.
hrothgar
There is a reason why folks hate opening 2♣ with a two suited hand pattern.(And Diamond two suiters more than most) I concur with treating this like a balanced hand.Move the five of Hearts to clubs and you wouldn't think twice... ArtK78
You have to decide how to treat this hand after the expected 2♦ response to 2♣ before you choose to open the hand 2♣. If you are not comfortable with the 2NT rebid, then perhaps you should open the hand 1♦. If you are not comfortable with that either, then after opening 2♣ and getting a 2♦ response, your next choice is one of these: (1) rebid 3♦ hoping that partner will bid a major; or(2) rebid 2♥ on AKxx (assuming that 2♥ is not Kokish). If you have Mike's tool available, then you can describe 9 of the cards in your hand and the strength of your hand with perfect accuracy by bidding 3♥. Whether you will get to the right contract from the right side after bidding 3♥ is an entirely different issue.
fromageGB
3♦ and it does not rule out a major. However, I prefer a shortage ♦ opening if playing that, or a normal 1♦ if not, or I might treat it as a near-GF 3-suiter and start a different way. Though I am not keen on that, as it will entail ruffing clubs with my spade honours.
