Could have been interpreted as help-suit game try, since that is our agreement in non-competitive auctions. Comments thus far? Your bid? Does your answer change based on teams vs. pairs? billw55
Pass at IMPs. Will consider 5♣ at matchpoints.

gordontd
I would never pass, as long as 2 ♠ was a kind of a good Heart raise. Have you misread the auction?

fromageGB
Will consider 5♣ at matchpoints.More silliness? Partner has no clubs, and made the weakest heart support bid possible. I think -800 is not unlikely.
CamHenry
Abstain: I'm not sure I want to be here at either form of scoring. In an uncontested auction, I like the help-suit game try. However, if we're defending a spade contract I really don't want partner leading from Ax in clubs; I don't want him leading a passive diamond in case they can pitch their one heart loser; I want him to lead a heart. I therefore wouldn't have bid 3♣. My hand has negligible defensive values; even if partner has Kx/xxx/Axxx/xxxx (about as defensive as he could be for the bid, I think) they have some play for game. At IMPs, I'm inclined to pass 2♠ and let them make the last guess. At MPs, I'd probably have bid 5♣ straight off. I think they're making 4♠, but no-one knows about 5♠. Give them no room to judge. Fluffy
We made an invitational bid, partner rejected, end of story. Now if we though we had a game drive (close), a 4♣ bid the round before would have been informative. Nothing to regret, we decided t go with invitation, stick with it. fromageGB
Wouldn't be my first time :P But why do you think partner has no clubs? No, I am not saying he has no clubs. But you have no reason to suppose he has more clubs than spades! It's just not my style to sacrifice at the 5 level on a 5 card suit with no known fit. I would have more sympathy with a 5♥ sacrifice. Either might prove better than 4♠. But that game is not a certainty.
