uhhlv
There might be hands to force partner with the 3 and 5 spades cuebid. But I cannot imagine any hand where partner needs a 6 or 7 spade cuebid (especially the 7 spade cue). If partner wants to play 7 NT, he can bid it without the Cues. So I think, wests opening is a psych and partner has lots of spades. Therefore I would pass 6 spades. The other possible reason is, that partner is a manic gambler. In such a case he has 13 tricks and wants to force a (re)contra. In my opinion a psych is more likely than such crazy bidding from partner. Zelandakh
In my opinion a psych is more likely than such crazy bidding from partner.Even if the opps have psyched, partner's bidding is still crazy. 3♠ has a specific meaning, even when the OP has not actually told us what. That means that you cannot just bid it when you have a bunch of spades. If partner just wanted to play 7♠ then they could have bid it directly over 2♠. In my opinion, the most likely holding for North is a card saying: "I want a new partner." On the other hand, they could just be a complete beginner. If that is the case then there is no need for ridicule here (they may be a lurker for example).
Antrax
I thought it's just some sort of dog-walking to 7NT with a lot of stoppers and some running suit. I would bid 7♣ over 6♠ and am awaiting partner's hand, assuming this isn't a hand from MBC where someone contrived yet another 13 down in 7NTxx. manudude03
I suspect it is someone trying to go for at least 2800.

ArtK78
This is completely sick. If partner had spades, aside from the fact that his 3♠ bid would be beyond absurd, he could have doubled his vulnerable opponents in 4♠. I am sure that down 10 doubled vulnerable (2900!) would compensate adequately for the missed grand. So, it is clear that partner is suicidal. billw55
Tentative conclusion is that "partner" is simply sabotaging the game. I have blacklisted many users for this.
PhilKing
Maybe partner has 13 tricks and was just trying to get doubled. And maybe they don't. I think that covers it. Would bid 7♣ of course, since I have a straight flush.

If you play against poor opponents, it is easy to get into bad habits like this, which in a better standard of bridge will only lead to your confusing partner and reaching the odd bad result without any gain. Fluffy
I would be with yo Zel if it wasn't that partner had a double against 4♠ aviable and didn't use it. This is so clear that 7♠ can never be passed out, maybe he though that putting partner as declarer was worth something somehow, but having spades is impossible. Zelandakh
Notice the first response Fluffy. The poster would have passed 6♠ even when it was clear that this was going to be another "I am so clever" thread. If a BBF poster would be willing to pass a spade bid then can you really tell me that someone in a game of the level shown in the OP would also not do it once in a while? As someone who plays in low level games, I can promise you that when someone takes it upon themselves to bid in a way like this, the result is very often a score such as 7♠-8 or 6♠-7. billw55
I am skeptical that this hand really occurred.
Antrax
Why? Besides the 7♠ bid, it sort of makes sense.
billw55
I know, it is possible, it could have happened. I wouldn't fall over in shock. It's just that when something is this unusual as a story, I find doubt comes naturally. A link to the hand record perhaps? The players names shouldn't matter. Lord Molyb
Pretty sure that 7♠N is down 11, not 8?
Zelandakh
Pretty sure that 7♠N is down 11, not 8?Quite possibly. I did not analyse it, just saw that 3 ruffs and 5 spades was the minimum and this was enough to make the point I wanted to.

mr1303
I really don't like partners who bid this way. OK, it worked here, but at some point partner is going to think that there was a psyche going on, and may pass.
