3♥ should be 5+♥ as with only 4 would use Stayman

 

edit i checked the GIB notes and it supposed to use 1N-2♦-2♥-2♠ for 5-5 INV

I played this hand, don't remember how, but we ended in 4♠, but the contract cannot be made. I think west has AKJ♠ and east has K♥.

Just a personal prefference. I prefer 1♦ with 15 HCP and HCP concentrated in diamonds and clubs. I dont have much in both majors. I think 1♦ works better, than 1NT.

I have seen the GIB invite over 1nt with 55 in the majors via stayman and then 2nt. I suppose one could choose to try bidding 3 of a major over 1nt-2C-2D-2nt with a suit oriented hand and a decent 3 card major. I have not tried this method myself.
