AyunuS
This is pretty funny. I like how east supposedly declines having 2 of the top 3 trump honors when west had 2 of them so east couldn't possibly have 2. And all the while, they don't even have a heart fit. Isn't there any way it can determine if it has a heart fit before just locking in hearts as the trump suit? Or maybe 5NT was supposed to be quantitative invite to 7NT, but that would be foolish when west has only 18 HCP so they only have 33-35 from his point of view, meaning 6NT would be a better choice. So in any case I can think of here, it seems like 5NT is a bad bid. http://tinyurl.com/cjfzdew
Stephen Tu
5nt isn't a bad bid, it's actually quite a good one using std meanings. This sequence is supposed to be "choice of slams, 6H or 6nt" with 5 cd heart suit. For GSF one should *Texas* then 5nt. What's screwed up here is GIB's response to 5nt, apparently thinking this is GSF. One side is programmed correctly but the other isn't. East should just sim between 6h/6nt, with 2 cd fit, no ruff value, and two possible 4cd black suits to run even with tens in them it should be easy for it to find the right call. Antrax
I guess I was wrong when I thought this sequence isn't common. (http://www.bridgebase.com/forums/topic/57308-alert-mismatch/)
