Stephen Tu
GIB has never been very good in double followed by new suit auctions. Yes I know my double is rather dubious, probably I should just bid 1♥ but that doesn't affect what North should do: [hv=sn=stephtu&s=SAQ8HAQ984DK65CQ4&wn=Robot&w=SK976H53DA87CAK76&nn=Robot&n=SJHKJ7DJ432CJ9852&en=Robot&e=ST5432HT62DQT9CT3&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=1C(Minor suit opening -- 3+ C%3B 11-21 HCP%3B 12-22 total points)PPD(3+ D%3B 3+ H%3B 3+ S%3B 9+ HCP)P1D(4+ D%3B 13- total points)P1H(3+ D%3B 3+ S%3B biddable H%3B 12+ total points)P2C(4+ C%3B 4+ D%3B 3- H%3B 8-13 total points)P2N(Invitational to 3NT game -- 3+ D%3B 3+ S%3B)PPP]400|300[/hv] - think 1♦ should also deny a 4 cd major, so 3- ♠, 3- ♥- I think 1♥ should cancel the promise of 3+♦, 3+♠, and just show 5+ H, and maybe 16+ total points (a bit lighter in balancing seat than in direct?)- North should certainly raise hearts with 3 hearts. I'd say 2♥ should be something like 5-7, 3♥ 8-9?- don't particularly think it should be bidding 2♣ to play opposite a supposed takeout double of clubs which is supposed to be short clubs. It should be allowed to bid 1nt rather freely with a smattering of points and 2- H.
E Laurvick
I think your double followed by a suit is correct. In both SAYC and 2/1 that shows extra points, and you could have as little as 10 HCP for your initial double. And your heart bid promises a five-card suit. This has been standard bidding for as long as I've been playing. The robot absolutely should be able to judge this situation and correct to 3 hearts.
