Fluffy
duck, if LHO ruffs trick 2 we are almost home playing ♠A+ spade to the jack.
mikeh
I rise with the A and advance the diamond J. I am essentially hoping for 3-2 spades, and split diamond honours, or both KQ with RHO. If LHO wins the first diamond, and I am confronted with club to the K, back a club, I ruff with the 10. I intend, if that holds, to play spade A and K and then lead clubs. If RHO covers, I pay some attention to LHO's card and would already know their carding agreement if this were a serious game. I expect to continue diamonds, but might not if they signal an even number and I choose to believe them. If they are 4-2 and someone gets a ruff, I hope it is with the long trump and that they can't also score the club K and a club overruff. I have other plans for other contingencies, but the play forks in a lot of directions and it would take too long to elaborate on all those that I foresee, not the mention the ones I didn't foresee :P
gnasher
duck, if LHO ruffs trick 2 we are almost home playing ♠A+ spade to the jack. Are you almost home? After taking his ruff, LHO will switch to a diamond, so now you have to guess whether trumps are xxx-Qx or Qxxx-x.
gszes
trick 1 win club Atrick 2 low club toward J (a quick nod to lho if they win the K) but lho cant really hurt me Im more worried about rho ruffing:(((((trick 3 if rho returns a club pitch a dia while lho ruffstrick 4 win the assumed dia returntrick 5 heart atrick 6 heart rufftrick 7 top club pitching other dia dummy has KJ void T9x Q AT8xx x void void I should be able to take the rest of the tricks no matter what lho does at this point even if they startedwith Qxxx of spades. Ill be down if lho started with Qxxx xxxxxx xx x distribution but thats about all:))
gnasher
trick 1 win club Atrick 2 low club toward JIf you follow this line, RHO should probably play low on the second club, and LHO will ruff. What should we do if he now exits with a heart or a diamond? (At the table, the first two tricks went like this, but LHO exited with a trump, rendering the contract Bowles-proof.)
