Kungsgeten
You are South and 2nd seat. NV vs V. Imps. Uncontested auction. ...................T92...................Q93...................3...................QJ8763K5.........................................J43JT2........................................874KQ2.......................................987654AKT54...................................2...................AQ876...................AK65...................AJT...................9 (Edited since west probably opens 1NT) We would probably not bid undisturbed, since west has an opening bid. Pass 2000 pass -(1NT)-P-(2C); (P shows 0-7 / 17+) This beginning of the auction isn't for certain. North may decide to double (showing a one-suiter), but since it is likely that partner has 0-7, this would probably only help the opponents since they seem to hold the majority of the high cards. Some easts may pass, some may bid stayman, some may bid some sort of bid to be able to sign off in diamonds. I went with the stayman route here, since it was suggested by Free. Our agreements says that the strong hand MUST act, but I would actually pass stayman: P - (1NT) - P - (2C);P - (2D) - P - (P);2S - 3S;4S After east's pass, partner knows we have the strong hand. I do not want to double, since it is likely for partner to bid clubs because of the auction.
Free
We would probably not bid undisturbed, since west has an opening bid. Pass 2000pass (0-7 or 17+)-(1C, natural opening)-pass to us;Here's a choice between double and 1S, I would double (which shows the strong hand) and probably correct to 1S if partner bids diamonds:Dbl-(pass)-pass. Then it depends on east bidding 1D or not. If 1D, south bids 1S, partner will make a simple raise and we will bid 4S. So either defending 1Cx or playing 4S, south.West will probably open 1NT, after which East will probably Stayman and pass any response from opener. Lord Molyb
If south passes then west passes too? If the answer to that is yes, then: Molybdenum Forcing Pass System: S ---- NP --- 1♣ (opening, 0-bad 12)1♠ --- 1NT? (19-21, GF opposite 19-21?)2♠ --- 3♣ (natural, North doesn't raise because south's bid only promises 4)3♥ --- 4♠ (5♠4♥, signoff) If North takes a less rosy view of his hand (evaluating it as 5 points instead of 6), then: S ---- NP --- 1♣ (see above)1♠ --- 2♣ (19-21, specifically not GF opposite 19-21, could be an invite, 6 clubs)2♠ --- 3♣ (see above)3♥ --- 4♠ (with a trump fit, north has enough to go to game) If south passes and west bids 1♣: S ---- NP (1♣) P (North has either a weak hand or penalty pass)dbl --- P (reopening, north has a trap pass) (down 2-3 I think) If south passes and west bids 1NT: S ---- NP (1NT) 2♣ (4-8 with at least 5 ♣s)2♠ --- 3♠ (South should have a good hand or a hand that absolutely can not play in clubs, north invites)4♠
CamHenry
Unnamed Homebrew Diamond:Auction 1:1♦-1N 16+, not GF/weak-or-slam try, 6+ ♣ to an honour2N-3♥ Extras, no support/fragment3♠-4♠This auction is untidy, and could end up playing 3NT or a club partscore. I think it's a good argument against treating a responding hand this good as a weak takeout: we'll save that feature for Kxxxxxx and out. Auction 2:1♦-1♥ 16+, not GF/0-7 almost any1♠-2♠ suit (NF)/support3♥-4♠ long suit game try/to playAn alternative auction if S is feeling pushy is a self-splinter of 4♣, but that still gets a signoff from N.
