Rossoneri
You hold the following:[hv=pc=n&e=s73hk98763d7cqj52&d=w&v=0&b=8&a=1d1sp2h(Good%20raise%20to%202S)p2s]133|200[/hv] What do you bid now? Assume you are playing 5 card majors, 15-17 NT and better minor (1♦ could be 3) Edit: Forgot to add it's IMPs, straight KO match Edited January 12, 2013 by Rossoneri
Fluffy
I had almost this exact hand yesterday, and I was going to bid 3♥, at MPs. Sadly north bid 3♠ over partner's raise and shut me out, 3♠-1 was a poor score for me
Finch
I would have doubled 1S

the_clown
I cant imagine not doubling 1♠. Now I have to pass.
mgoetze
How can we suddenly have a bid now when we didn't have one before? Agree with double first round.
neilkaz
Is the diagram correct and it is east to bid here? I cannot believe at this level of play, that east didn't make a neg X on his first turn.

Cyberyeti
And of course if you negative double your partner will either bid hearts or have a clue what you got! What would a negative double change here? Rainer Herrmannr Well if the auction goes 1♦-1♠-X-2♥ partner might bid 3♣ or X now he knows I have some values and hearts (and clubs too the way I play but that's a minority view). Finch
And of course if you negative double your partner will either bid hearts or have a clue what you got! What would a negative double change here? Rainer Herrmannr Partner might have acted over 2H; for example he might double showing something in hearts (3 of them, maybe?) if we had a 9-card fit. dake50
'kgr' 2♦ over 1♠: transfer ♥ ***I Play this also. This hand just wants partner to know long hearts. *** But it could have been S-fit but asking H-help for 4S.*** Or even H-lead expecting opponents to bid on.*** Transfers in competition almost solve the "is that bid forcing?" without intensive discussion. A one-scheme-fits-all auctions.
Rossoneri
Thanks for the replies, needed it for a ruling. FWIW, at the table where this auction happened, E bid 3H and got doubled, going 2 off.
