had a hand come up yesterday

auction was;[hv=d=e&v=e&b=6&a=1nd2dp2hp3hppp]133|100[/hv]

on my opening lead i informed delcarer that there had been wrong information given

on the double over 1NT

was stated as single suited hand but was either minors or majors two suiter.

by providing information if declarer doesnt ask what your bid meant doesnt it also

still provide UI to you partner whether declarer asks or doesnt aks what your bid means.

in this case declarer didnt care to know, but now my partner is aware of what my bid should have been.

even though the information given would help declarer to play the hand?

Yes, its the law. The intention is that partner is not told he has got the agreement wrong while he is playing the hand.

so defending side is going to be penalized for one of them not knowing their system by misalerting?

The defending side is already going to be "penalized" for the opponents not knowing the defending side's system during the auction
