SteveMoe
Playing in your local club game (MPs, Above avg field, Very strong opponents) you find yourself partnering your Unit's Grand Life Master. You agree to play 2/1 with a few bells an whistles but undiscussed territory is natural by agreement. Here is the auction your perpetrated. What is your call? What do you think is the limit of the had for EW and NS? Here's your hand and auction. The details are in the spoiler... [hv=pc=n&e=st743hj97653dck32&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=p1c1n2h2s3hpp3spp]133|200[/hv] Please comment on the bidding... Here's the whole hand. North's NT overcall was slightly eccentric. [hv=pc=n&s=sj9863h2dqjt87cq9&w=s2hakqd5432cajt75&n=sakqht84dak96c864&e=st754hj97653dck32&d=s&v=b&b=7&a=p1c1n2h2s3hpp3spp]399|300[/hv] EW can make 6♥ NS can make 4♦ Partner didn't find the ♦ lead (would you?) so declarer got home for a bottom. mgoetze
2♥ would not have occured to me, looks like a pass instead. Given that, I will definitely pass now.
lalldonn
I'll hide this since it's in response to the spoiler. Your grand life master partner doesn't like bidding obvious games, I see? 3♥ is pretty awful, what is he waiting for? Also you will never make 6♥ on this auction. P_Marlowe
Pass? I am not sure, I agree with 2H, but I dont mind it either, and it worked, in the end thatswhat counts, i am content. With kind regardsMarlowe
gnasher
I think 2♥ is normal. I'd pass out 3♠, expecting to find partner with some wastage in diamonds. Opposite x Axx KQxx QJxxx we need trumps 2-2, ♦A right, and no club ruff, and he could be worse than that. North's 1NT bid looks normal too. I think partner might have done more. 2NT ought to show a strong raise here, but presumably that wasn't part of your agreed methods. I can see why he didn't bid game - he's not expecting this miracle fit either. Perhaps he should bid it anyway, because it has several ways to win: it might make, it might push them into a non-making 4♠, and it might be a save against 3♠.
