100% line

Does this work?

- Win the diamond

- Cash two hearts and two spades

- Lead another diamond. They win and clear diamonds.

- Play a major, finding that it's 5-2.

- If they cash two diamonds, throw A, then use K to get to dummy's long diamond.

yes, well done, except they have only one diamond to cash; and well done on winning the London Superleague again.

No it does not, I have been trying that line for long, they play a club now and you win are stuck into deciding if you win Q or K, overtaking is suicide since you only make 4 tricks in the majors, 3 diamonds and 1 club for sure. So you win in hand and end up a trick short as well if you don't guess.

You only overtake clubs if they cash the diamond and return their 5-2 breaking major, threatening a fifth trick in the 5-2 major suit.

If they return a club you do not overtake but win the queen to play the other major and establish another trick there.

At this point you have made 7 tricks, one in clubs and two in every other suit.

The defenders can win their fourth trick, but your hand is high with two major suit winners and dummy is high with two minor suit winners

Gnasher's solution "Win , Cash two , two , When you lead another , they win and clear . Now, play M, finding that it's 5-2, If they cash two , throw A, then use K to get to dummy's long ".

Wow!. Great stuff chaps! Thank you! Merry Christmas! :)[/hv]

That is only part of the plan.

Opponents have the option to let you win the second trick. Then you play J, they take the ace and cash two diamonds (otherwise you have nine tricks), and you discard A.

- If they play clubs, you let the queen win and play hearts: Either declarer wins 10 and 10, or dummy wins K and a free diamond.

- If they play spades, it is your seventh trick. Take Q over with K from dummy and cash a free diamond.

Read many who won, cashed two of each major then a diamond. All say opp clears the diamonds which they shouldn't. They should cash major(5) ace and exit that major. Now no long diamond to cash for you but diamond and long major to cash for them when you lose other major ace setting you. At that point they have two diamond tricks, 2 major aces and long major. I see no solution.

If they cash A 5th and exit that major, you have 3 tricks in that major, 2 in the other, 2 diamonds and 2 clubshttp://www.bridgebase.com/forums/public/style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gifYu
