Partner can pass 1D :)

True, however, I'm not expecting the hand to get passed out. If it does, I need to pay out.

As I noted earlier, shwoing a two suited hand after a 2 opening is ugly

Showing hand with rpimary Diamonds makes life especially ugly

I open 1D, mostly because I have all primary honors and the texture suggest this is a SUIT oriented hand, and not really a NT oriented hand, with all thoose AKs + supported Qs and no slow tricks in terms of intermediates.

Open 2C and 2NT rebid, and we'll lose many laydown slams (or many 5D games when 3N goes down).

Open 1D and we'll lose only when pard passes, but as someone said, in that case we are likely not to have 3NT.

With the right gadgets (Ingberman or Multi-reverse), opener may be able to describe the strength of the hand even without resorting to the 2C opener.

Club game.

I have a gadget here so I open 2C because we can show our 4 card hearts first then longer diamonds over a positive response of 2D. Otherwise, I rate it as close to open 1D or 2C. 1D is best for slam bidding and some game bidding area, you may sometimes reach otherwise unbiddable slams if you open 1D and you may sometimes find excellent 5D or 4H when 3NT goes down, but you also may be passed out by partner, also you have a hard time to rebid if partner bids 1H. 2C then 2NT is best for gamebidding.

2, but the continuation and evaluation depend on system.

If I play Rosenkranz's rebids (my preference), I rebid 3 to show five diamonds and four hearts.

Otherwise, I rebid my hand as a 24 NT if that overbid doesn't send me immediately to 3N, but as a 23 NT if only that underbid allows me to utter 2N at some time, either directly or after a Kokish 2.

(Not that I am particularly eager to play 3N opposite a pair of jacks, but my hand is good for slam.)
