My thought was that they have a 5-0 break and are probably going down but so is everyone else and I want to beat everyone else. Also my double might cause them to misplay the hand, playing me for the long spades. It almost made, down only 1, my K♦ was offside.
JLOGIC
It is very bad against good opps, against bad opps it is probably OK depending on your partners tendency and how often he would crack with the long trumps. Just keep in mind this would be a bad habit vs stronger opps but I understand it.
lalldonn
I don't like it because I don't have tricks. I have QJ combinations that may or may not amount to something on defense, and a king under a 2NT opener. I have also made a very questionable suggestion of a lead when in fact I have no idea what will be the best lead. I have no problem doubling with the short trumps, but not on this hand. JLOGIC
Yeah the only justification is really these guys are so bad they cant make any hand with 50 trumps lol.

jeffford76
Was the last double risky or a good match point move. I'm a fan of these doubles at matchpoints in auctions where the opponents have limited their hands. But here they could have 31 HCP between them, which would likely make 4S despite the break. ArtK78
Maybe it would be a better double if the doubler had -1 spades instead of zero spades. I find this double to be silly without any tricks in the side suits. Doubler is relying on partner having 5 spades and declarer misguessing the lie of the hand because the doubler is the one short in spades. I would not be shocked if the declaring side made an overtrick. By the way, the lead directing double of clubs is far from clear. Any suit (including spades) could be the right lead. akwoo
If you are in 2nd by half a board in the last round, or if you've had a few bad boards early, this is a nice swinging action. Otherwise, no.
