JonnyQuest
[hv=pc=n&s=saq92hakt5dcakj63]133|100[/hv] First Seat, IMP's. Assume 2/1 and no special gadgets (Roman, Rosenkrantz, Multi) to show BIG 3-suiters. What do you open? What is your planned rebid?
the hog
1C. Much easier to bid this 3 suiter after a 1 opening rather than after 2C.
Hanoi5
Is this the hand from the 'when is 2♣ opening useful?'?
chasetb
If partner can't respond over our 1♣, then we likely don't have anything. We also have zero problems with rebidding out hand after 1♣.
Zelandakh
Is this the hand from the 'when is 2♣ opening useful?'?That one was considerably stronger - AKQx/AKQx/-/KQJxx from memory.
Hanoi5
That one was considerably stronger - AKQx/AKQx/-/KQJxx from memory. But that OP said he wasn't quite sure of the hand.
lalldonn
1c for sure. It's probably worth 2c but just barely, and the auction will go so much better after 1c.
steve2005
1♣ . sure this is 3-loser but if you have no fit and partner can't respond to 1♣ is more like a 6-loser hand, no intermediates your gonna lose all tricks but your A/K's.If you play weak jump shifts, you can bid & make game after a 2♥/2♠ response
RSClyde
1♣You could add some high cards (K of spades instead of the 2) and I'd still vote the same way. Way easier to start like that. To open 2♣ is to cater only to that goldilocks situation in which you can make game but partner can't bid over 1♣. With your actual hand, the chance of that is close to 0.
