silvr bull
[hv=pc=n&w=sqj7432htdq2cqj64&d=e&v=n&b=2&a=1d2c]133|200[/hv]What is your choice with the west hand after east opens 1♦ and south overcalls 2♣? I can see arguments for pass (and hope I can bid ♠ later), or double (and hope partner doesn't get too excited in ♥), or 2♠ (and hope partner doesn't drive the bid too high because of the hand strength I promised but do not have). I might not have posted this, but the comment below (from another thread) prompted me to ask about this recent problem which resulted from a 2♣ overcall.Overcalling 2♣ on cheesy hands in front of an unpassed pard was a big losing strategy for us and we changed it to pass and balance if you can with those things. 2♣ barely bothers opponents with decent agreements anymore. the_clown
Pass, intending to defend 2♣X. Second choice is dbl.

Codo
I would bid 2 ♠ constructive but non forcing. I like the 6. trump, the singleton and esp. Qx in partner suit. Okay, I hate the rest of my hand, but.... :) If I play 2 ♠ as forcing, I would x and bid spades over 2 ♥ from partner, cause this is the way to show a non forcing hand with long spades... phil_20686
Pass, intending to bid 4!s over dble. Just to clarify, passing and bidding 3S over the double is also ok. I mean, I am very poor in controls, and I likely have wasted values, but when I am 6-4 and I have a fit I like to bid a game.
PhilKing
Pass then 3♠.
ggwhiz
Pass then 3♠. Me too (usually) but my best result will be if it gets passed out ie when pard has short spades and modest club length in a minimum hand. Besides, they have buried a decent to great heart fit but if they happen to find it I still have gods suit and may have clues from pards action on how high to go. It's happened often that it's our only plus or +200 against a partscore. At least, I remember those results fondly.
