the hog
I guess you mean pass is automatic? Yes, I agree. Partner's 4S bid basically said he was not really interested in anything else.
Phil
Pass is obvious. I have a feeling I am getting jobbed by my LHO with a weak minor 2 suiter. Partner made a stab at 5♠, and it looks like he made the right move. He did not know about my two big cards. KQJTxxxx Qx Kxx void would certainly fit this bidding. I like my chances in 5 even though its not cold. I would not like to play 6♠ on these cards, even though it might fetch. This problem does not belong in this forum. MrAce
This problem does not belong in this forum. Haha, i swaer to god i knew you would write this, i am not kidding. And i agree too, it must be a very interesting hand at best, and should be in interesting hands section, because what we should bid now is obvious from beginner to world class for all levels of players. PhilKing
5♠ is barking mad.
wyman
4♠ doesn't look so great to me either.
ArtK78
Well done? On a normal diamond lead, overtaken and a club returned, 5♠ is down while 5♣ was down 2. And this defense is not really that hard to find. As for North's action over 5♠, that is a no brainer.
PhilKing
5♣ is any easy 500. South gives SP for diamonds at trick 1.
Phil
Well done? On a normal diamond lead, overtaken and a club returned I'm not sure this defense is so obvious.
Phil
5♣ is any easy 500. South gives SP for diamonds at trick 1. NS were vul, EW weren't, but I agree competent defense gets down 3.
mikeh
Late to the party, but 5♠ is incredible! And not in a good way. What offence did he have that he hadn't shown via 4♠? If his side belonged in 5♠, partner can and should bid (I don't see xxx in hearts as a strong reason to think we belong in 5♠). Indeed, since we will often hold KQJxxxxx and out, for 4♠, I'd be worried that partner wouldn't play us for the defence we have and would take a phantom: hardly a reason to go ghost hunting myself. TWO4BRIDGE
[hv=pc=n&n=sa3haj853d753cqt9&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=1c1h2d4spp5c5sp]133|200[/hv]I wonder if a Snap Dragon DBL by South ( after 2♦ ) would have had any merit ( as long South also held 2 cards ♥ along with 5+ ♠ ) ?? The bidding would be lower and South can always bid Spades.
Phil
BTW, when I said "WDP for bidding 5♠", it wasn't intended as a compliment. Double is blindingly obvious after 4♠. He just happened to catch a nice dummy and a layout that allows him to make with good play and marginal defense.
the hog
5S is an awful bid. This hand belongs in the beginners/intermediate forum.
