Cyberyeti
Teams of 8 cross imped. [hv=pc=n&s=s97hj9864d6ct9543&w=sk63hq75dqt43ca86&n=saqht2dakj9872ckj&e=sjt8542hak3d5cq72&d=s&v=0&b=11&a=2hp3dppp]399|300[/hv] I give our auction, a strange auction to a sensible spot. 2♥ was 4+♥ 0-10, 3♦ was highly constructive but not forcing, very rarely passed, but this was the hand to pass. Partner got out for -1. The results on this board included 5♦x-4, 3N-5 twice, 3Nx-4, 3Nx-5 twice, 4♥x-2 in just 16 results at a reasonable level UK tournament (the tolly). Any suggestions as to how this should be bid round the table ?
manudude03
For me: P-P-1D-1SP-2D-3D-3SAP North's hand isn't that good opposite very little.
mycroft
P-1NT-X-2♠P-P-something? A bit tongue in cheek, as this isn't the "11-that-is-12", but I bet a fair number of weak NTers will be 11-14 anyway and open it. P.S. "Something" will get doubled. PhilKing
Pass-Pass-3NT-All Pass I know that Jon Cooke was one of those going for a large penalty in 3NT after opening 1♦, getting a Two Spade overcall and punting 3NT. Now West had an easy double. It seems to me it is better to just open 3NT, which may stop EW getting to a making game - put the spade king in East and they may make 4♠. It's not impossible that 3NT and 4M are both making.
Codo
IF I would play in all four seats: pass 1 NT X 2 ♠pass pass 3 ♦ all pass
Cyberyeti
Opening 1N wasn't an option for us if I'd passed, we play 12-14. The board is just a bit of a car crash.
Vampyr
Pass-Pass-3NT-All Pass... It seems to me it is better to just open 3NT This might not be available to many pairs.
MrAce
I think west has a borderline 2♦ cue after east overcalls 1♠ over 1♦, 2♠ is reasonable, in fact i may have bid 2[sp with west hand, but i maybe resulting i dunno. I would bid either 4♠ or make a game trial by east after pd cues, in Manu's auction. Game try with either using 3♥ bid (nothing to do with heart suit, just the space in between our and their suit if dbl is defined as penalty oriented when we have that space available)or DBL. DBL probably would be juicy in 3♦ if west passes. +300 if N guesses ♣ or +500 if not.
Zelandakh
If North opens 1♦ in third, I am bidding 2♠ as East in fourth rather than one. A strong club auction might go P - P - 1♣ - 2♠;P - P - 3♦. It gets potentially messy if West raises to the 3 level after either 1m opening and a 2♠ overcall. If E-W play a mini NT then Roland's auction looks very sensible. Since noone has mentioned it, what would everyone do as North after the starts:- P - P - 1♣ - 2♠;P - 3♠, where 1♣ is strong, or P - P - 1♦ - 2♠;P - 3♠, where 1♦ is either a) 3+, or b) 4+ and unbalanced? Easy pass? As Phil points out, it would be very easy to be missing a game here (for either side).
