General Type: One interesting hand

Voice Track: NO

Quizes: Yes, no scoring, some "funny" questions

Time to complete: somewhere less than 10 minutes, unless you spend a lot of time working out a difficult problem

The hand, reported by forum member Phil, is very interesting. The hand is educational, and difficult. I really enjoyed it. I think this is one most of the forum members will really enjoy as the hand has multiple aspects to it... an exciting hand from a JEC match, a routine play, a defense to squash the routine play, a better play to overcome the defense. Since the target of this hand is set fairly high, I think I would have included a percentage chance to make if certain assumption about West's hand is true just to test if people see the solution earlier, but I can live with the way it was presented.

Excellent presentation. I like these sort of movies where there's a tale that accompanies the hand(s), in a bridge-world style. Of course there are no characters here but it's just good fun the way things are described and there's even a situation that can be 'spoiled' at the end.

I was a little confused in the bidding section where it appeared that partner (North) had opened 1. Thereafter things improved and I enjoyed the cardplay section greatly. 2 things here: would it be possible to edit the movie to include the proper rotation for the bidding? and, more generally, would it be possible to include a diagram view for these movies since I personally find the card view difficult to work with?

Edit: OK, I found where to change the display to diagram mode - apparently I was right-clicking in the wrong place. But I found a new problem, at least in the tutorial moveie. It picks up my local country settings (Germany) when I do not want this (since I am English). Any way to alter this?

Check the preferred language content for your browser.

By default it is the same as the browser language itself but that can be changed.

What broswer is it?

I am using bog standard IE. Windows is the German version; the local settings (time format, etc) are English; the keyboard is German. I do not know if there is a separate language setting for IE, or, if there is, whether it can be changed on this PC. What I will do at some stage is to check on my PC at home, which has the English version of Windows and no German settings at all.
