Jinksy
Assuming you're playing a fairly standard system, so opener's rebid is a splinter. Obviously you can agree to play it GF or inv+ - is there a consensus as to which is better?
gnasher
I don't think there's a consensus. I think it should be game-forcing, because I just wouldn't want to make such a revealing bid on an invitational hand. A splinter often helps them with the lead, but is rarely useful in deciding whether to bid game or stop in a partscore. If it goes 1a-1c;3c and responder is interested in slam, you can play 3(c+1) as a shortage ask, so not much is lost on the slam hands.
aguahombre
G.F. The only thing I would add to Andy's post is that although game-forcing, it is still subject to additional agreement. Our's is that it is limited to about 16/17 in HCP plus the distribution values. Stronger hands will reverse first or Jump-shift first, bidding around the shortness and then showing the 4-card support.
steve2005
1♦-1♠-3♣ not a splinterbest to play as gameforce, sure there will be some hands you go negativehowever is better to be GF then search for those rare hands where you will pass 3C or bid 3D to play. Remember opener in standard could be very strong as much as 21 hcp and not the right hand to open 2Ctake your best shot
CarlRitner
1♦-1♠-3♣ not a splinter best to play as gameforce aka a strong jump-shift; 19+ and GF in Std. Am. Correct?
SteveMoe
Have only played Jump reverse = Splinter as GF - too much space used for invitations. Not sure if playing invitational strength here how best then to handle GF and GF+ hands of similar shape.
gnasher
1♦-1♠-3♣ not a splinterI assume that "1a P 1c P 3b" means we're talking about jump reverses only.
aguahombre
I assume that "1a P 1c P 3b" means we're talking about jump reverses only.Yes. Otherwise, it would be 1b P 1c P 3a. At least some of us believe b should be between a & c. We might be wrong.

Only 5 of them...outnumbered greatly! Some of the consonants are willing to be "vowels" at times, but run in shame when their counterparts see them doing so. They have so many different sounds at times, that many of them don't even feel they have an identity. In conclusion...how dare you try to take away the only thing they have going...one of them earning the right to be at the front of the alphabet! PhilKing
Any number of "b" should be forcing in any sequence, otherwise what we won't know what trumps are.

masse24
Both of my regular partners and I play these "JUMP REVERSES" as Mini-Splinters, and, not GF. Billy Miller describes it in his Dear Billy column as a "Splimit".The Bridgehands website shows a similar treatment, calling it a Mini-Splinter. However they add the following, "Note: partnership agreements for Mini Splinters - some play opener's jump forces game." I have seen other players use Jump Reverses, 1a (P) 1c (P) 3b as a GF with specifically a stiff, with the 4 level splinter as a Void. So...whatever floats your boat apparently. :D
Cascade
We play 3M+1 as frivolous. This gives us three steps after a splinter below game-level which in theory allows us to play these as not game forcing. For example, 1♣ 1 ♥; 3♦ ... now 3♥ I really hate it 3♠ Frivolous 3NT spade cue and serious
