Am I supposed to lead low to say "yes, lead a club" or am I supposed to lead the 8 to say "I have 6, so it's more likely that I have a club void" ? My thought was that since I didn't lead a club, he'd figure it out regardless, so I led the ♦8. But I didn't know if I was right to do so. The 2 is more likely to fool partner into miscounting me for just 5 diamonds, and thus miscount the hand. There is no reason for a fancy 'alarm clock' here. I'm already not leading his suit.
