The 5♣ bid did not request any further cooperation from North, and North should respect the decision of South in any further action. Not only that, but his Jxxx of hearts and his Qx of diamonds have some defensive value. The interference got EW up to the 5 level. North has no clue as to the exact makeup of South's hand.
