Fluffy
[hv=pc=n&w=sa652hk5dkt62c987&e=skqh74d874cakq542&d=n&v=0&b=1&a=1h2c2h3c3h4cppp]266|200[/hv] Match pointsATB for missing 3NT and also play 4♣ if you want: South leads ♥A to make it clear that 4♣ is the wrong contract, north plays ♥3 and south quickly puts ♦Q on the table, cover or not? MrAce
I would double 2♥ by west hand. 3♣ is lousy bid imo. Not sure if that would change the outcome though. For the play, south showed an Ace and a Queen, opener is down to 10 hcp already and he opened very light with a suit missing AK. I suspect opener has a 6-4 hand for opening with these poor values and then bidding 3♥, i also think he rates to hold 4 spades more ofthen than holding 4 diamonds, since with side 4 diamonds he could have choosen to open a weak 2. If he has AJxx we are going down anyway, covering only wins if opener has AJx ♦ (or Axxx ♦ ) I would duck the ♦ Q
gszes
100% W 2n over 2h a standout. All three side suits stopped 3 card clubsupport and an invitational hand. 3c doesnt show all that muchand a neg x (while keeping spades in the picture is right only ifwe are destined to make exactly 3 spades. If p does not like NTand has extra values they can always bid 3s on their way tosome number of clubs. I would also duck the dia Q since the only way this bidding makes much senseis for rho to hold something like Jx(x) QJxxxxx A(x) Jx and I am not convinced rhodid not psyche 1h.
the_clown
I would also X as West. If we are playing raptor I would try 2N
Codo
No need to rush to NT with just a single stop, so sure X. But IMO the partners made another mistake: If 3 ♣ did show a hand that strong, they should have found a way to look for 3 NT. Mine had been 3 ♠ by East. But maybe he expected much less from partner or 3 ♠ shows length for them.
ewj
Yeh west has a clear double of 2♥ and if North still bid 3♥ (which they genuinely might not), I suppose East could double that...might be resulting though...but surely that seems reasonable, extras, not masses of defence but if partner passes, how bad can it be.
