BunnyGo
You hold: Jx, AKxxxxxx (8 of them), xx, x The auction is: 4H-(4S)-AP Partner leads the heard Q and dummy hits with: AKx, Tx, AQJT, KQxx What do you do? Overtake and lead another heart? Overtake and lead a club? Duck and hope partner figures it out from your signal low? Something else? Edit: It was MPs. and fixed 14 card problem. PhilKing
You hold: Jx, AKxxxxxx (8 of them), xxx, x The auction is: 4H-(4S)-AP Partner leads the heard Q and dummy hits with: AKx, Txx, AQJT, KQxx Most unusual - dummy has 19 points, 14 cards and a big spade fit, yet passed throughout. And we have 14 cards too!
BunnyGo
Most unusual - dummy has 19 points, 14 cards and a big spade fit, yet passed throughout. And we have 14 cards too! Gah! My error. We were 2821 Dummy was 3244 Edit: and yes, the pass throughout was weird, she must have seen her partner's 4 spade bids before. WellSpyder
Most unusual - dummy has 19 points, 14 cards and a big spade fit, yet passed throughout.I expect dummy was aware of the regulation about not having agreements about bidding after irregularities, so had no way to show 14 cards....
gszes
is this IMPS or MP?? the difference is HUGEEEEEEEEEEE AT MP where the opps merely making 4s should be reasonable I would not go crazy trying fora set. It seems way more likely lho would have 1 heart than p. Since we are going to guessthe % play would seems to be overtake the (with the K so its obvious its intentional) Q andreturn a low club. With any luck p will have the A and can return a club for you to ruff andNOW go for the huge MP score my trying to cash the 2nd heart. Be satisfied with above averageif you can do that and still have a chance for a top. AT IMPS where overtricks are of small consequence we use our fevered imagination. We cannot setthis hand if p has 2 hearts, We overtake the heart Q and cash the heart A then make our club switch. We do not do something cute like overtake the heart and lead a low heart back for p to ruff and see ourobvious desire for a club because there is no reason p has to have a spade. Even if p were 66 in the minorsour 4h bid would have quieted them (especially looking at that dummy wow). Doing the :cute: play couldeasily cost your side a set when simple signalling should do the trick. Save the theatrics for when it isneeded. PhilKing
After we overtake, if the second heart cashes, partner gets to make a pitch. If he throws a discouraging club, you can go for the trump promotion. Maybe declarer has T9xxxx xx Kxx Ax - it would help explain the non-raise. Assuming pairs, of course. It's a bit of a non-hand at imps.
BunnyGo
It was matchpoints. IMPs defense is also interesting.
Antrax
Oh, dummy has only two hearts? I was wondering why this was even posted as a problem, with Txx it makes no sense to play a second heart before getting a club ruff.
