rsteele
Playing with a national champion you hear this auction: Pass - Pass - 1H - Pass 3H?You are playing fit Drury. How do you paly 3 Hearts?
Finch
A matter for agreement.I play it as either a 5332 (5-card support) or 5422 (side 5-card suit unsuitable for a fit bid) not strong enough for Drury i.e. semi-preemptive but not rubbish. But I have a way of showing a side singleton with 4-card support not strong enough for Drury, so that hand type doesn't need to be in the 3H bid. aguahombre
I want it to be a "mixed" raise, much like Frances suggested. We could wait a very long time to have a purely preemptive heart raise opposite silent opponents.
PhilKing
I've been playing it as 7-9 with 5 trumps for 23 years, and it's come up twice.
nigel_k
It definitely should have some shape, either a shortage, or five trumps, or a five card side suit. You don't want to do this with 4432 as you might after a first seat opening. And it should be less than limit raise strength. Since it doesn't take much to have a limit raise with a shapely hand and four card support, I would expect something in the 4-7 HCP range. PhilKing
I would expect something in the 4-7 HCP range. It will never happen.
lycier
I would play 3♥ as a weak preemptive raise with 4-card support and less than 7 hcp.

dboxley
Limit but with reason not to let opps in too easily.
Phil
Mixed but I'd like to have good ODR or a little shape.
