sceptic
I have been reading about Attitude leads verus no trump leads and I would like opinions about the pros and cons, my understanding is the advantage is it makes it harder for the declarer as they cannot use the rule of 11 to work out the distribution so easily, my main concern is how do I as the person in 3rd seat take advantage of this type of lead and how does this benifit the partnership on defence. Secondary concern is what do you need to take into account if we were declarers and opps were playing these leads against us. Also should my concerns be equal or in a different priority
the hog
"advantage is it makes it harder for the declarer as they cannot use the rule of 11 to work out the distribution so easily," This advantage is a disadvantage for partner. I played these and found no advanatage. "Secondary concern is what do you need to take into account if we were declarers and opps were playing these leads against us." As most people have absolutely no understanding of attitude leads. I would read nothing into this at all.eg Is a low card encouraging in that suit or does it just say, "this is the best of a bad lot"? How many lead a low card from xxxxxx ? Is this a good suit? inquiry
Switch to 2/4 leads and have your cake and eat it too... I lead 2nd highest against NT when I am not happyh iwth the suit. I lead fourth highest when I like the suit (but not enough for a sequence lead). Works for me. ben
