Team game, partner opens 1NT (15-17), all vul.

Not a particularly fancy system - partner can show better or worse hand over any transfer.

Whats your plan? Would it be different in matchpoints or different vulnerability?

xfer to , rebid 3 over 3/3/3N rebid 4. I have no mechanism to transfer to then show hearts. Interestingly, a Stayman call can strike paydirt if partner responds 2.

If partner bids 2D it is good too...you bid 2H and if he's 3-2 in the majors he will bid 2S and then you can bid 3C and he will pass. Of course, if partner bids 2S thats not so good.

I held the 1NT hand, if you bid Stayman partner bids 2, 3C now is 100% gf.

Also I posted this hand on bridgewinners (http://bridgewinners.com/article/view/bidding-problem-172/), and tere was quite a lively discussion about stayman.

lol I wasn't suggesting bidding stayman, I was just being silly.

This hand type is simply a flaw in standard bidding methods. Personally I play 1N 2D 2H 2S as showing an invitational hand, after which this hand type can be catered to (opener will never bid 3N, he will bid 2N with a min and no fit, 3H with a min and a fit, and use paradox for the rest (3C=accepting NT invite but not clubs, 3D=accepting NT, clubs, not diamonds, 3S=accepting NT, C, D).

If you want to use 1N 2D 2H 2N as natural, you can play 1N 2D 2H 2S as showing a distributional invite specifically, that way 2N can ask and opener can decide whether to bid 4M or not with knowledge of your major. In my suggested scheme, the idea is if partner has a fit and you have a 5-5 invite you always play game, which is slightly flawed but gains freeing up 1N 2D 2H 2N for something else (I like to play it as clubs).

If you want to play standard NT system methods which have no way to deal with this hand type that is fine also, you just know you will have to guess something when it comes up (personally I just choose the transfer and pass method).
