Tournament Awards

Awards are a function of number of pairs in contention, limited to a max of 1.20 points. I don't recall the exact formula, but it is something like

#pairs * .08 or 1.20 , which ever is lower.

I'm away in Orlando, but reopen this thread (or email uday@ ) in a week if ou care and i'll provide more details.

This is from the ACBL webpage...

"There are formulas for computing masterpoint awards for all ACBL-sanctioned events. These formulas take into account various factors, such as the class of the event, the size of the field, the number of sessions and the level of competition, thus ensuring maximum uniformity throughout the ACBL in determining masterpoint awards."

I am sorry, but I don't know the forumla.. but if you look at old ACBL events on line you find empherically that.. second place is worth 70% of first, and third is worth 50% of first, and fourth is worth 35% of first.

The trick then is to figure out how much 1st place is worth. If you look at enough events, you will see.. online there is no special games, no club champtionships, and no unit wide games, so all score pretty much the same (until we get a scrambled howell which I think offers more masterpoints for same number of tables).
