Fluffy
4♣ now before bidding slam, just as a anti-lead director, we aren't gtting any more useful info from partner.
phil_20686
4♣ now before bidding slam, just as a anti-lead director, we aren't gtting any more useful info from partner. I will just bid 4H. Partner knows I will have a real hand, since I had two previous chances to jump to 4H. If he is all aces and kings he can take it from here. I mean, he could just have some Qjx x KQJxx Kxxx, and you might not even have five level safety.
ggwhiz
4♥ is plenty on this auction.

Phil
It was a good day for blasting. Partner had AQx x ATxxx Qxxx and LHO did not find the club lead from Kx.
phil_20686
Have you ever heard partner take another call after 4H in this auction? Yes? I mean you are showing a pretty good hand here. I could have bid 4H over one diamonds, that is quite wide ranging, going from about QJT to 8 and out, to AK to seven and an outside K or Q. Bidding it the second time shows a better hand. About KQJT to seven and an outside ace might be typical, or seven solid. Bidding this way basically suggests I am better than that, without being truly slamish. 8 solid plus a K would be typical. Could be as good as A solid + a an ace, esp if short in diamonds. If partner is AK AK in the minors I would expect him to cuebid 5c now, and pretty much drive a slam. Even AK A I would be close. Not sure what I would do. But i would forsee partner having 8 tricks pretty normally.
