I was playing this PM in an IMP game with a robot. I opened 1C. LHO overcalled 2D. Robot holding spades- K 4, Hearts - Q, 10,9,5,2, diamonds 9,5 & clubs K,9,8,3 bid 3C. Why not 2H?

You seem to prefer a 2♥ bid over the 3♣ bid made by GIB.

Actually, I much prefer pass!. 2♥ should show a better hand (change the ♥Q to the Ace), at least 10 points and is forcing 1 round.

3♣, does not overstate the strength of the hand, but runs the risk of not being your sides best fit.

The robot does not need a good hand to raise your suit, but does to bid a new suit. So he chose the bid he was allowed to make rather than pass.

To bid on 2nd level GIB requires 11+TP, to bid on 3rd level GIB requires 14+TP.

 

And always new suit is forcing at least for 1 round, so GIB won't and would expect as well partner not to pass it.

I mean that:

 

1♣ - 2♦ - 2♥ - Free bid -- rebiddable ♥; 11+ total points

1♦ - 3♣ - 3♠ - Free bid -- rebiddable ♠; 14+ total points

 

Since V23 the new suit after overcalls which used to be higher then rebidded opening requires 11+ instead of former 14+. But if the responder first bid is at 3rd level ( with no jump ) 14+ remains as expectation.

I'm sorry, but either you're understanding my question or I'm not understanding your answer. The explanation of North's 3♥ bid is 14+. North very clearly does not have 14+. I hope that either you will be fixing GIB so that he doesn't make this bid, or that you will be changing the description so that it includes the actual North hand.

It's fixed for the next update. It was due inappropriate simulation. Explanation will correspond to the hand.
