Still getting used to GIB

Hi all, first time posting, still rather new to BBO, so bear with me.

The auction:

I am certainly guilty of overaggressive bidding here but after dummy came down, I just could not figure out what North's 4H bid was supposed to mean. During the bidding, I guessed it was a cuebid of some sort and went to slam. Woops.

(Not that this is necessarily related but) is there a GIB convention card of some sort?

And on another unrelated note, what are GIB's defensive carding conventions? Are these explained in a thread somewhere, or another place entirely?

Thanks for your help/input.

Welcome to the BBO Forum.

In the main BBO site, if you go to "My BBO" then "Convention Cards", you get a list of stock convention cards. The first one there is GIB's card.

Whenever you play a robot tournament, GIB's convention card gets loaded as your convention card (and your opponents' card). Edit:Apparently, this is no longer true.

Here in the Forum, one of the pinned threads is called "GIB CC as Played on BBO". You can find more detailed info there, including a link to system notes.

For both the convention card and the notes, in the main BBO site you can click on "Robot World" then "Robot convention card".

You can hover your mouse over/click GIBs bids, and it will give you an explanation. You should also be able to hover your mouse over your own bids to see what they mean before bidding them.

Thanks a lot. I will look into the GIB CC.

I did know about the hovering over a bid to get an explanation -- in my hand from above, the explanation for North's 4 was one of those vague ones like "11- total points" or something like that...don't remember exactly what, but it didn't say anything about hearts. So I'm guessing that bid is a GIB "bug"...
