Cyberyeti
Partner should move on AKxx xxx Axxx xx, easily, it's not even close. Adding a wasted honor doesn't change that. In fact it makes the hand even better, who knows maybe we have QJT9xx x KJx AKJ or something and our 50% slam just became 75%. It's not like he shouldn't know that xx of clubs is way better than xxx if we bid 4♥ just like if we bid 3♣.And should he know not to move on AKxx, KQ, Axxx, Jxx ? Phil
And should he know not to move on AKxx, KQ, Axxx, Jxx ? He might open 1N with that. Just sayin.
Cyberyeti
He might open 1N with that. Just sayin.Sorry yes, was in weak no trump mode as I permanently am regardless of what I'm playing and who I'm playing with, last time I played a strong no trump, it was with my long deceased grandfather along with a "phoney club". lalldonn
And should he know not to move on AKxx, KQ, Axxx, Jxx ?Even though he can't have that, he knows it is worse than AKxx xxx Axxx xx. xxx of hearts xx of clubs is better than KQ of hearts Jxx of clubs when partner splinters in hearts, obviously. I don't understand what the big deal about this hand is. He knows aces are good, kings of suits other than hearts are good, and xxx of minors are bad but in hearts it's great. That is exactly what we want him to think on this hand. We don't have a five card suit he doesn't know about. We don't have a diamond fit where we may belong there. There is no hand where we can belong in clubs. It's a perfect splinter bid.
han
Let's just say that if partner bid a slow 4♠, I would be pretty sure that I made the wrong call with 4♥. Either find better partners or, if they pay you for playing, stop complaining about them.
cherdano
Obvious 4♥. With 3 working keycards and three cards in the splintered suit after you have shown a minimum opener is obvious.
