AndersK
I will declear.... C to A, S to Q, D to Q, and H hook, and low S from dummy.....EW clears the C, and I play another D from dummy....W has to take it and eventually give dummy another H hook and the 13th Spade...NS will get: 2+4+1+2 EW will get 2+0+1+

firechief
declare: win the club, hook a heart, club off the table. east wins and on a spade return, i win the queen, cash a club (squeezing west while I pitch a diamond), diamond to my hand (forced duck), hook a heart, finish hearts, diamond to west. if west kept a long diamond, i keep diamonds, if west kept a long spade, i keep spades, if west pitched a heart, I laugh and take 9. If east instead ducks a club or returns a non-spade position is easier, I again finish off hearts and cash club jack, this time pitching a spade, and lead diamonds to my hand, eventually west must give me an entry to finish diamonds.

kjadams
Right....kjadams has the line I agree too _)Thanks. Not sure I really have it. If east unblocks the spade Jack under Q they can set up 5th heart as this creates 3rd entry for West.
gnasher
NO CREDIT to ducking the 1st club - suggested by several. Why not? Duck the club, win the club continuation, heart finesse, diamond to hand, heart finesse, top hearts throwing a diamond and a spade, diamond. The defence just gets a trick in each suit. [ (Declarer ) Ducking the opening ♣lead seems like a "compression play" -- compressing 2 tricks into 1 ]. That's true, but it leads to a forced end play. Club ducked, club returned (otherwise we keep an entry), heart hook, diamond (must duck), heart finesse, heart AK diamond. West must win and can cash a long heart but gives us entry to the diamonds. rhm
It seems to me you can always end-play West to provide you with an entry to hand. T1: ♣A assuming East splits. Otherwise we establish diamonds immediately. T2: heart finesse. T3: diamond to handT4: heart finesseT5,6: cash hearts discarding diamonds. T7: club to East to extract West exit card. Now what can East do? If East plays a diamond, West is end-played to provide us with an entry to hand. If East returns a black suit, we will play a diamond after cashing the third club in dummy when we regain the lead to endplay West. Your first 3 discards from hand must be diamonds. What our fourth discard is on the ♥Q depends on what West discarded on the third club.If West discarded a diamond we do likewise, if a spade we do as well. The defense gets a trick in each suit. You make 4 hearts, 2 clubs, one diamond and one spade and at least one other trick in diamonds or spade. This would have been a good single dummy problem. What is much tougher is to realize as declarer in time that the hand can not be made unless West has both aces and the queen of hearts. dake50
Lucky Clubs are 2-6 and thus dis-entried. What plan works if Clubs are 3-5?
rhm
Lucky Clubs are 2-6 and thus dis-entried. What plan works if Clubs are 3-5?No line can work then since you will have to give up the lead to both the diamond ace and the spade ace and the defense has communication in clubs.
