CSGibson
In the first hand I'd pass 2nd situation I think I would stretch to double, even though I'm technically a bit light. I do have both majors, and my honor cards aside from the J of diamonds are all likely working
gszes
pass over 3c and 4c over 3d It is much easier to envision p shortness in dia after a 3d bid than over pass. This greatly increases the chance of making game. If p wishes to advance over4c they can bid a 4 card major on the way and we can play there instead of 5c. If we x now (lets say showing both majors) are we going to be happy if p bids3h or 3s?? The club QJ are such superb support that not showing it via 4c willmake it most diffcult for us to reach game.

The club QJ are such superb support that not showing it via 4c willmake it most diffcult for us to reach game.I suspect that bidding 4♣ will make it even more difficult to reach 4M! Partner will only bid 4M over 4♣if he has the values for 5♣ when, as is likely from his p.o.v., we don't fit his major (I would always take 4M as an offer to play there rather than as a cuebid). So he needs a good hand, indeed, to bid 4M. Whereas if we double, he will upgrade a hand with say 6 clubs and a 4 card major, which is what we want him to do...and the reason we want him to do that....indeed, the only reason we ventured the aggressive double....was that we held the QJ of clubs...thus we are happy of we hit a major suit fit and not unhappy if he is forced to retreat to 4♣ (and if by some miracle he bids 3N, we are likely to be very happy). Small loss if I'm wrong and only a pip short on value. By partnership agreement, losing up to 5 imps in an attempt to push them around is an acceptable cost of doing business. I am forced to behave myself if red though.

Quantumcat
I voted for double in the first case, it's fun to annoy the director
Fluffy
I also though pass and double, but I am worried this might be a bit incosistent.
P_Marlowe
Pass / Pass. The first Pass - lack of options. The second Pass - if I am passing in #1, than I am passing now as well, it would either be pass or X, and I was satisfied with 110 / 130, and it will be ok, if I get only 50 / 100 playing IMPs. Playing MP, we can start discussing X, but I would not do it, butpartnership style matters a lot. With kind regardsMarlowe
Cyberyeti
I also though pass and double, but I am worried this might be a bit incosistent.Inconsistent yes, but if I had a bid which suggested anything like "9+ both majors and club tolerance" after a pass I'd make it, I don't and any of the bids I do have aren't really appropriate. Double is merely a slight overbid in the second case so IMO worth doing.
