justbridg2
I bid to a cold 6H contract. GIB went down 1 at my table. Many others bid and made 6. One bid and made 7. That makes me never want to pay $1 to pay an ACBL game again.
Bbradley62
GIB didn't just go down in a cold contract, GIB made a really bad play to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory:[hv=lin=pn|justbridg2,~~M25037,~~M25035,~~M25036|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S8JQKH34TJAD89AC9%2CS569TH78D2QC357TA%2CS2347AH25QD57KC2J%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%201%7Csv%7Co%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1H%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1S%7Can%7COne%20over%20one%20--%204%2B%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%206-12%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7C1N%21%7Can%7CUnusual%20notrump%20overcall%20--%205%2B%20C%3B%205%2B%20D%3B%203-%20H%3B%203-%20S%3B%2011-%20HCP%3B%2010-12%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7C4S%7Can%7CDouble%20jump%20raise%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%204%2B%20S%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4N%7Can%7CBlackwood%20%28S%29%20--%204%2B%20S%3B%2011%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5C%7Can%7CZero%20or%20three%20key%20cards%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%204%2B%20S%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%3B%203-%20controls%7Cmb%7Cd%7Can%7C7-16%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7C5D%7Can%7C%3F%20queen%20--%204%2B%20S%3B%2011%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5N%7Can%7Cqueen.%20No%20lower%20kings%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%204%2B%20S%3B%2021-%20HCP%3B%202%2B%208421%20HCP%20in%20S%3B%2019-22%20total%20points%3B%203-%20controls%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C6S%7Can%7CSignoff%20--%204%2B%20S%3B%2011%20HCP%3B%2012%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CD8%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CCQ%7C]360|270[/hv] Oops... that's not even the right hand... Bbradley62
This is the hand he's talking about. GIB develops a case of matchpointitis:[hv=lin=pn|justbridg2,~~M23071,~~M23069,~~M23070|st%7C%7Cmd%7C3S479H49KD2JKACTQA%2CS236KH56JD78QC47J%2CS5AH378TQAD46C35K%2C%7Crh%7C%7Cah%7CBoard%209%7Csv%7Ce%7Cmb%7C1H%7Can%7CMajor%20suit%20opening%20--%205%2B%20H%3B%2011-21%20HCP%3B%2012-22%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C1N%7Can%7CForcing%20one%20notrump%20--%203-%20H%3B%203-%20S%3B%206%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C2H%7Can%7C6%2B%20H%3B%2011%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-16%20total%20points%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C4N%7Can%7CBlackwood%20%28H%29%20--%202-3%20H%3B%203-%20S%3B%2012%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%3B%208%2B%20relay%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C5S%7Can%7CTwo%20or%20five%20key%20cards%3B%20queen%20--%206%2B%20H%3B%2011%2B%20HCP%3B%202%2B%208421%20HCP%20in%20H%3B%2012-16%20total%20points%3B%203%2B%20controls%20%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7C6H%7Can%7C2-3%20H%3B%203-%20S%3B%2012%2B%20HCP%3B%2012-%20total%20points%3B%208%2B%20relay%20points%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cmb%7Cp%7Cpc%7CSQ%7Cpc%7CS7%7Cpc%7CS3%7Cpc%7CSA%7Cpc%7CH3%7Cpc%7CH2%7Cpc%7CHK%7Cpc%7CH6%7Cpc%7CH4%7Cpc%7CH5%7Cpc%7CHA%7Cpc%7CC9%7Cpc%7CD4%7Cpc%7CD3%7Cpc%7CDA%7Cpc%7CD7%7Cpc%7CCQ%7Cpc%7CC4%7Cpc%7CC3%7Cpc%7CC2%7Cpc%7CH9%7Cpc%7CHJ%7Cpc%7CHQ%7Cpc%7CS8%7Cpc%7CHT%7Cpc%7CC6%7Cpc%7CD2%7Cpc%7CS6%7Cpc%7CC5%7Cpc%7CC8%7Cpc%7CCA%7Cpc%7CC7%7Cpc%7CCT%7Cpc%7CCJ%7Cpc%7CCK%7Cpc%7CD5%7Cpc%7CD6%7Cpc%7CD9%7Cpc%7CDJ%7Cpc%7CDQ%7Cpc%7CSK%7Cpc%7CS5%7Cpc%7CSJ%7Cpc%7CS9%7Cpc%7CS2%7Cpc%7CH7%7Cpc%7CST%7Cpc%7CS4%7Cpc%7CH8%7Cpc%7CDT%7Cpc%7CDK%7Cpc%7CD8%7C]360|270[/hv]
jamegumb
Well, 6NT is cold, so 6♥= might not be a great score anyway. Perhaps GIB also inferred east to have more diamonds than west.
jamegumb
The traveller was interesting - GIB played in 6♥ eight times; each time there was no opposing bidding. The bot made 13 tricks twice, 12 tricks once, and 11 tricks five times. (The only time it didn't face the spade lead was when it made 12 tricks, after the deuce of clubs was opened.) Result was entirely dependent on your bidding method to arrive at the slam. When it made 13 tricks it looks like defenders started tossing diamonds on the run of the hearts, so it was clear to play ace/king/ruff to set up the jack. The slower auctions seem to have convinced the GIB East defenders that holding spades was less useful (perhaps because declarer made a minimum rebid) and so they held more diamonds and presented declarer a guess.
