mikl_plkcc
4NT, then correct to 5♥ after 5♦
rmnka447
5 ♥ -- the hand is too distributional not to bid. If I take a number, it's only one board at MP. Would be more tempted to bid 4 NT if I didn't have a 7 card suit.
gszes
[hv=pc=n&s=shaj87532d4ca6532&d=w&v=n&b=12&a=2sp4s]133|200[/hv] MP. Choices seem obvious. What is yours and why? gotta love MP no real fear abut getting slaughtered:))) 4n while there is s strong chance this hand belongs in hearts it still seemsbetter to at least try and find any fit at the 5 level opposite our passed P.A scarier question for me is what would i do if p bid 5h ackkkkkkkkkkkk.I would plan to pass 5c and convert 5d to 5h btw. Fluffy
5♥ works nice when both 5♥ and 5♣ make, and when partner has 1-2 or 2-3 in the rounded. When partner has 1-3 clubs will normally play better since partner is probably strong on this auction, and if he isn´t 800 or 1400 will be the same. When partner has equal lenght he will normally bid 5♦ to play best fit when we have both minors. At IMPs I´d try 4NT, but at MPs that extra 50 for playing in hearts are important. Still I wan to try 4NT this time.

bftboy
This seemed to me to be just sort of a high-level balance, where the object is to push them a level higher without getting whacked. You won't be allowed to play in your 5 level contract anyway UNLESS you happen to pick the one that opps can x for 500 or more. So, seems best to give p a chance to bid 5♣ by bidding 4nt. That's what I did, P bid 5♣ and opps went to 5♠, down one, average plus for us. P had a funny hand, something like Ax Q Q109xx Kxxxx. 5♣ can make, but takes careful play as W has 3-0 clubs and E has 4 hearts K109x. 5♥ will be x'd for -500.
