Playing Acol (4cM, weak NT), so you've shown either 5+ clubs or a balanced 15+ with 4 clubs (or a 4441 with 4 clubs).

Partner has at least 4 card club support, and probably less than 9 points.

Matchpoints. Also interested if the answer is different at teams.

Both forms of scoring I bid 5, partner is unlikely to be broke at this vul and Axxxx and out offers reasonable chances, Kxxxx and out and I may have no defence to 4 and be close to making.

Will partner really have Kxxx and out at this vul, I don't think so ?

Did partner have 2 available as a weaker raise or was it still inverted over the overcall ? Is 2N by a passed hand natural or some other sort of raise ? Is 2 another raise ? by a passed hand it seems you should know more than just <=9.

2 is a weaker raise, 2 is stronger. I would probably take 2NT as another good raise, but I don't remember if we've discussed it.

At the table I also bid 5. Unfortunately the full hand was:

[hv=pc=n&s=sjt4hkqj3d853cak7&w=s952ha8dqt97cj432&n=sq873h965dkj642c8&e=sak6ht742dacqt965&d=w&v=e&b=16&a=pp1c1h3c3h5cppp]399|300[/hv]

Partner's two hearts were a nasty surprise.

So is the rest of partner's hand.

Partner has at least 4 , but is very unlikely to have more than 1 . From your hand, it looks like a loser, a loser, and possible a loser at most. So even VUL vs not, I'd bid 5 at any kind of scoring. I'm also DBLing 5 if the opponents bid it.
