Rubber Bridge Hand

Recommended Posts

I wish I had bid 2 and not 2N. What I need to know is how many tricks we rate to take. Something like K AJ10742 432 432 means we should play 3N, while K32 AJ10742 43 43 makes slam interesting in s. I'm pretty sure partner does not have K & KJ since that would not be a "maximum" (shown by the 3 response).

Bidding 4 now on a wimpy 5-carder is unilateral. Instead I will bid 3N and take my game bonus.

The problem with Keycarding is there is no longer a way to play NT below 6.

I would mention at the next break how bidding 3 here should imply 2 of the top 3 honors in s.

a lot depends on style

I prefer constructive two bids 2/3 top honors etc

so I would expect partner to have AK K

which would be pretty robust vuln 2 bid.

put some contraints for two bid in dealermaster pro

contracts at 4 and 5 level are pretty much same

but 6NT beats 6 by 13%, 58% to 45%.

oh what a lost art rubber bridge is

6 is worth bidding opposite all the hands you give, and very good if the 9 is also held, KQ, KJ109xx, any 5 others is also in the frame as a maximum.

Thanks for the sim results. I agree with your strength preferences here. I am a bit surprised at the margin of success for NT over . Do the success rates cahnge much if we allow 5-card suits for the weak 2? Cyberyeti also points out that the quality of the matters - AJ10 is likely enough for slam.

What constraints did you put in ? I expect a lot of the hands where 6 fails but 6N makes would not be opened a first seat vul weak 2 by some of the people here (although I open pretty much anything, the all time favourite being catching partner with 27 points and AKQJxx of my suit).

Your expectation of partner's hearts will be sadly disappointed as the OP says it only contains one key card.

I'm bidding 5 asking partner about the quality of his trump suit. If partner has someting like AKJxxx or AK109xx, 6 should make. If partner has KJ10xxx, passes, and 6 s makes, we're still getting points for game.

If partner has made a weak 2 bid on dregs vulnerable at rubber bridge, then, if possible, I'm finding a new rubber bridge partner ASAP.

2-3 with K

6 's with combinations of akj10, but j10xxxx not being one of them

assuming i can trust p to have a decent heart suit for the vul weak 2

my heart Q should be sufficient a filler to avoid more than 1 heart loser.

over 2h I would just key card and sign off in 6h.

If i cannot trust p to have a decent heart suit---i will start the bidding with

2s vs 2n since it is quit possible 6s could be vastly superior to 6h or 6n.
