Rebid?

4 deserves a partner with -, Axxxx,Axx, AKxxx. :)

There is a lot to be said of playing in your 7 card suit even with a 4/4 fit at your side, but for now I would start with a space saving 2 . And if partner shows a 5/5 hand, I would play in clubs.

If I get that dummy in 4S, I'll be thrilled. 6 on a trump lead is not a great spot, and 4S rates just to lose 2-3 spade tricks (planning on playing A, then 8, picking up H, Hx, or any 3-3 break)

2d when you are not SURE (ie 4s is guesswork maybe even 5/6/7 clubs is better) keep the bidding

as low as possible. Who know maybe p will bid 3c or 3s either of which might get you heading toward

slam. Keeping ti simple is not what this game is all about or else we would have eliminated conventions

a longgggg time ago.

2 keeps 5, 6, 3N, & 4 in the picture for now. If partner rebids 2N I'll choose 4 as the right stopping point. If partner rebids I will raise simply. If partner rebids I will bid 4 perhaps even as Minorwood. If partner rebids 3N showing extras I will likley bid 4 on the way toward 6.

Jumping to 4 appears right in isolation but this hand offers many possibilities. Let's get partner's help!

4. Another consideration is that opps will get their suit into play if we try to be clever.

PS. Same at any scoring I think.

I decided to get cute, never a very good idea when playing with bots. I wanted to have my cake and eat it too, and thought I could two-step my way to a pretty good description of my hand. Maybe not the best course but I think North's pass of 4C is pretty bizarre, the hand has become a moose. On the bright side, GIB proceeded to misplay it, so we were high enough. +130 was predictably rotten.

GIB should be fixed never to pass 4m except in competition or if it was a pre-empt. No human would except in very unusual circumstances, none which spring to mind...

Your fault imo, 3 is an invitation bid for GIB and you know it, once you defined your hand as an invitation hand it doesnt matter for GIB regardless of what you do later, you can jump in the air, flip and walk on your hands upside down, GIB will still think you have an invitation hand and will say to itself "I better pass asap before this maniac drags us to higher levels with his invitational hand. :D

Agreed, it's totally my fault. It's just hard for me to imagine passing 4C with the North hand, when south has ostensibly shown an invitational hand with 6+ spades and enough of a club fit to warrant pulling 3NT. Heck, it's hard for me to imagine passing ANY invitation with the North hand.
