I think he would assume would assume that 4NT is quant and 4D follwed by 4NT is keycards. I was afraid of a H ruff or that 6Nt might have no play. 1eyedjack
Is it possible to adjust the size of hand diagrams in these posts?
benlessard
I should have bid 4Nt here even if there is some chance that partner think its keycard rather than quantitative.
mike777
prefer 4d rather than 3h extras with long d, no h stopper, no long spades or long clubs. hope 4h is rkc in d now.
benlessard
Im not sure but I think 4D natural suggest H shortness or a H control. I think its normal when you have no H control to ask for a stopper first. There is also the possibility that 4D show 6 solid D + S fit. gszes
I think going through 3h first then bidding 4d (like i would do here) shows a hand interested in slam vs a weaker more distributional hand that is looking mostly for 5d (by bidding 4d over the x). after 4d e must surely like their hand with all controls and a surprise4 diamonds and the will cue bid 4h (I would play 4n as a sign off as itmakes zero sense for E to suddenly be able to take control of the bidding.) Once E shows slam interest I would bid 4n as west and sign off in 6dwhen I can't find the dia Q (a strong case can be made for pretending tohave the dia Q since they have 2 more dia than might be expected but wewill leave that in the hands of theorists for now).
jillybean
This seems like the perfect hand to "show" the Q.
Codo
Not too easy to solve your problem- after all, how will you find out whether the stopper is AKx or QJTx? With your methods, I had tried 4 NT. In mine, I had bid 4 ♣, this should be a control and a slamtry with long diamonds. With a strong minor twosuiter, I had bid 4 ♣ last round. quiddity
Not too easy to solve your problem- after all, how will you find out whether the stopper is AKx or QJTx? I will bid 3♥ and then 4♦ over 3NT. Partner will bid 4♥ with a suitable holding for slam or 4NT with an unsuitable holding.
