In this case I think it would raise to 4. In any event, IMO there should be a way to distinguish between a hand that is strong and balanced and one that has a source of tricks. North has shown his hand to be 6-10 total points, and partner signed off in game. There's no excuse for North to bid again. nathan2008 Posted June 5, 2012 Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 always difficult to handle this kind of hands with GIB. For me, i bid 1nt with south hand. Because if pd has 0-6, i don't think 3nt will make. Remember, GIB doesn't lead normally! I must hope pd has S and D stopper and if so, he will probably raise to 3nt or invite. As south has 14 HCP, if west has 10 HCP, he will X 1nt and i will be happy to play 1ntX. The only annoying thing is that GIB will transfer to H if he has H and i have to play H with 5-1. I learned a few things about playing with GIB by watching Leo LaSota. I bid 1NT on a lot of hands that I would never dream of calling 1NT playing with a human. It is very effective.
