Which is why I am bidding 4♦ and pulling 4♥ to 4♠. This is a stronger sequence than just jumping to 4♠, and my hand warrants that even tho my spade suit should/could be stronger. Double, while takeout, is sometimes left in...picture Ax AKxxx Qxx xxx...with 4 likely tricks on defence, no fit for your suit, and nothing extra in hearts (where you have denied a primary fit via double) isn't this the time to take one's plus? Lest you say that that gives preempter nothing....he is w/r. So I don't like double anyway. Or am I being too old-fashioned about this sequence? it wouldn't be the first time. At the time, I felt like I was dumping to this pair, but it turned out to be an average plus, as the room ended up in spades a lot of the time going set. I need to stop eating before bed.
