fuburules3
http://tinyurl.com/6nqxyq4 How should this be bid in GIB? Over 2C, it doesn't appear there is a system bid; 2D promises 5, 2 of a major extras, and 2NT 14HCP. Does GIB view 3D over 2NT as a signoff? What about 3C? EDIT: To preempt others, I do realize that over 3D I should anticipate a likely 4-3 fit and (maybe?) bid 3NT
Stephen Tu
Would have been nice if GIB bid 3c instead of 3d if it was trying to signoff in a partscore. It's also unclear to me what the bids mean when the 2c bidder is unpassed. It seems GIB is not playing 2c as a GF? Would be nice if barmar clarified GIB's approach on 1d-2c auctions, a common problem for human players as well.

Bbradley62
It seems GIB is not playing 2c as a GF? Opening bids 1D usually 4 unless 4432. Opens 1D with 4-4 in the minors. 2D response is forcing, inverted. 2C response is forcing to one round, but not game force.
AyunuS
And yet, in the bidding description in-game, it does say it is a forcing 2 over 1 if you bid 2♣ as a response to 1♦, but only with an unpassed hand. If this isn't the case then this description should be changed.
lcsmw
We play that 3d always promises 4+ diamonds. 2NT is non forcing and shows 12-14 HCP. There are only 2 choices over 2NT; 3C or pass. As an unpassed hand, 2C is fine. You can stay out of trouble since 2NT is not forcing. Some people would bid 3C over 1D, but we use that for an intermediate diamond raise.
