the hog
3H. Certainly not xx, which denies a fit in my book and allows the opponents to come in cheaply with Spades

Statto
3♥. We have excellent shape and prime cards in the right places. And there's just a suggestion if we don't bid high enough that opps may be able to find a 4♠ game, as it could be a double fit for both sides.
Codo
3 ♥, if the hearts split 3-2 my hand is golden.
han
I think that this hand would have been worth 3H without the double, but in competition it is very important to jump raise with such an unbalanced hand (and 4-card support). I'd rather bid 4H than 2H.
Fluffy
4♥ weak 6-4 is what first comes to mind, but our ODR is pretty low for a 6-4, and its MPs after all, 3♥ might not be so bad. At IMPs given that I have a shot at game opposite ♥Kxxxx and out bidding less than 4♥ would be so weak.
dkham
Perhaps I've been egged on by the other comments, but I think we can bid 4♥ here. Hopefully partner agrees it doesn't have the same meaning as it would without the takeout double.
TWO4BRIDGE
For the 4H bidders, how about showing 10 cards with a 4C - double jump . I've been told that the CWNN ( convention with no name ) is still ON over 1S or DBL interference .

SteveMoe
The 2-2 ♣ split (40% or 3:2 against making) makes 10 tricks. MLTC is 6+9--> 9 tricks unless something good happens in ♣ or ♥ (partner could have the ♥J). On values I think the rebid is 3♥. Playing support doubles, a redouble is 3 card support.
dkham
You were lucky that hearts and clubs split evently. But then if they don't, then opponents can often make 4♠, so bidding 4♥ directly still works well.
mikl_plkcc
For me, xx shows a fit show I xx.
Phil
Very lucky game, especially on the auction. Agree with bidding 3♥ instead of four. You can play redouble as three card support, or some strong hand (along with a structure to show various 3 and 4 card raises), but xx should never be four card support under any sensible method. Cyberyeti
Stiff Q♣ will also do. Stiff small club you're -1 but 3♠ now makes, so looks like 4♥ is pretty sensible unless both suits misbehave and you push them into a making 4♠ they weren't bidding. phil_20686
I think 3H is enough here. You can also think about playing some `stuff' here, since the double gives you extra options. In particular, I think with xx = good hand, no fit, you can use 2N to be the "good" heart raise. Or you can use 2S in the same vein, as you wish. I think there is real benefit to differentiating between the strongish and defensive 3H and the offensive 3H. This will help partner in the not uncommon situation that lho bids 4S. gszes
we need to make life as difficult for the oppsas possible. If we have a large heart fit (andp is minimum) we have no defense against 4s. Isee no problems with bidding 4h right now since I need so little for 4h to make and it also has the advantage of being very preemptive. I reserve xx here to show heart support and 16+.This helps show the difference between verydistributional hands like our current one andhands with a lot of power. p knows our hand typeand will take that into consideration if the vulopps compete further.
han
Seeing this hand again I think I like 4H, and I think you did well to bid it.
