akhare
NV. vs. vul., IMPs., LHO deals and opens 1♣ (standard 2/1): (1♣) - 1♦ - (2♣) and you hold: Q9XXJXXXKTXxx Assume that 2♣ is more constructive than a jump to 3♣.

quiddity
2♦ seems 100% normal. Second choice would be 3♦ but partner would have to know that this is our style, otherwise I imagine it could induce an expensive save.
Zelandakh
2♦ - partner is likely to be on lead and we need to tell them right now that we have some help in diamonds.
Phil
Just 2♦. If partner has extras I'll hear about it.
ArtK78
2♦. Support with support.
mikl_plkcc
We can count 8 ♦s, so 2♦.
dboxley
x responsive....fancy word for takeout with D. I'm not sure this promises diamond support and since 2D describes my hand I will bid it.
CSGibson
2♦, I want partner to lead a diamond, and I don't want to give the opponents my distribution on a platter. If it was MPs, this would be a slightly tougher problem, since majors score higher if its our hand, but I think 2♦ is right even then.
