Mbodell
Here was another choice for our E opp: [hv=pc=n&e=s8hak43dj3cakqt97&d=e&v=b&b=10&a=1cp1dp1hp1sp3cp3np]133|200[/hv] P or keep bidding?
mgoetze
Abstain, I wouldn't bid 1♥.

Mbodell
Interestingly enough, at both tables the auction was identical to this point (at least the calls were the same, not sure if the inferences or meanings of 1♥ and 1♠ are necessarily identical). mike777
so why 1h?
gszes
1h perfectly reasonable wasting space with a reverse makes littlesense save it for hands where it is needed. P heard our biddingand while we indeed have 8 probable tricks we woud need 4 from pfor slam. Surely if p had something like 4 probable tricks theycould have found a bid other than a simple 3n. If p has no spadestop after this bidding find another p. pass
Codo
I would always bid 1 Heart, even if walsh was a part of my system, I need all the space aI have and I want my jumpshifts to be of full value, not just of full shape. Now I pass.
inquiry
I would bid 1♥ also. :) A jump to 2♥ is not a reverse, it is a jump shift -- or if you prefer, a jump reverse. Either way, for me, a jump to 2♥ would be game forcing whereas, a simple reverse is only forcing, not game forcing. As the 1♥ bidder, bidding again over 3NT is a close decision, with two ways to go. 4♣'s to show really strong clubs, or 4NT to invite six. Of course, pass is (at least in my opinion) a reasonable option over 3NT as well.
mike777
btw it seemed opener was playing walsh style but not sure responder was. 1c=1s2h=? sets up a different dynamic.
barmar
btw it seemed opener was playing walsh style but not sure responder was.Why do you say that? Responder bids up the line with an invitational or better hand. Do some Walsh players only do this with game forcing hands?
mike777
ya only gf and never up the line with only 4-4.... so 1d then 1s would be nat, gf with 5-4 but sure other versions of walsh
han
I don't know why you would bid only 1H here. It seems useful to show a GF hand when you hold one.
